Weekly Team Meetings

While the focus of the Amazing Bible Race is on independent Bible reading, Scripture study, and quiz-taking, group interaction and discussion should expand the experience.

Find a time in your large group's schedule to meet together weekly for the sole purpose of discussing your Amazing Bible Race experience. (If you have several small teams within your larger youth group or Sunday school class, this meeting will bring together all participants.)

Discussion questions should explore teens' impressions from the readings, quiz-taking, and challenges. Some possible questions include the following:

  • What was your favorite reading this week?  Why?
  • What was the most difficult reading this week?  Why?
  • What did you learn new this week about the Bible, about God, or about yourself?
  • What did you learn as you completed quizzes and challenges?
  • How are you using your Race Page and how is it affecting your Race experience?
Invite questions any participants may have about the reading(s) or overall experience. Encourage further research and/or Scripture study to accommodate students' questions and interests. We recommend the Bible study techniques in Teaching the Bible to Adults and Youth by Dick Murray.

Use the Runner's Reader to find discussion starters. The Road Signs, Pace Pushers, and Road Blocks all contain interesting information about the day's reading. The online Newsbreaks also feature relevant ideas, facts, and images related to the Scripture.

Be creative and make the Weekly Team Meeting a fun learning time, patting the participants on the back for a job well done and encouraging them to keep on racing!
